| History of T&EE CRI
A Technology & Engineering Education State
Advisory Committee comprised of approximately 30 business representatives
and educators met to provide direction and priorities for revitalizing the
T&EE curriculum. The T&EE facilitator shared information derived from the T&EE
State of the Art paper as background information/data for the committee and
ISBE. The committee recommended starting on orientation level content
followed by skill-level lessons in manufacturing/engineering, construction,
automotive and computer science. |
| A T&EE Teacher/Writer
recruitment brochure was developed and disseminated during the winter-spring
of 2006. A group of T&EE teachers was recruited. |
| A T&EE DACUM Panel was convened
to identify content for T&EE orientation level coursework. |
| T&EE teacher writers were
recruited and met for curriculum writing training. 12 T&EE teachers were
trained during three training session, generating 232 CPDUs. Additional
teachers have expressed interest. in writing and reviewing lessons. |
| T&EE lesson development began
with writers assigned to approximately 30 lessons and an additional 20
lessons were identified. Lessons were submitted for editing and programming
on CD for dissemination purposes. |
| In cooperation with the ISBE
Principal Consultant, the T&EE facilitator has provided workshops and
presentations with technical assistance and visits to exemplary programs.
Research to identify exemplary programs in Illinois continues In addition,
plans and programs for T&EE education networking and T&EE education culture
building are in progress. |
