FCS CRI Progress
In January 2007, the new website, www.ilcte.org was launched. Twenty five new lessons were added to the Lesson Plan Library, including 21 lessons in Food Science and 4 in FCCLA. A webcast was held April 26 and is archived under the webcast heading. Eleven FCS Update Sessions were held throughout the state with Debbie Hopper, Marta Lockwood, and Linda Walker presenting. In December, a Structured Group Interview was held for the area of Human Growth and Development. This is a committee composed of incumbent workers. The committee members identified skills that were necessary for students entering the work place in the area of Child Care.
Since Human Growth and Development crosses the life span a Structured Group Interview was held for the Elder Care component in January 2008. These incumbent workers identified skills necessary for workers entering the field in the area of Elder Care. Based on the information supplied by the incumbent workers, a steering committee of secondary teachers identified lesson titles. In April of 2008, 25 new lessons for FCS were posted to the website. Teacher writers continue to generate new lessons. |

FCS CRI History
During the summer of 2006,
several lessons in the FCS area were written by Family and Consumer Sciences
teachers from around the State of Illinois. Twenty-five of those lessons are
being professionally produced to allow search ability by lesson content, the
Illinois Learning Standards academic performance descriptors, teaching
objectives, as well as many other features. |
|
Not only will there be 25 Family
and Consumer Sciences lessons, but there will be 25 lessons each from
Business, Marketing, and Management, Health Science Technology, and
Technology & Engineering Education. In January, the CD was made available to CTE teachers
once they had taken a small tutorial regarding the search ability/usability
features of these lessons. |
|
This CD is a sampling of what is
to come and will have business lessons from the broad areas of Technology,
World of Work, Basic Skills, and Communications. Initial lessons being
developed are directed to students at the orientation level--ninth and tenth
graders. |
|
Once released, we are hopeful
FCS teachers will try out these lessons, when appropriate, in their classes,
and give us feedback regarding the success of the lesson, how much of the
lesson was used, etc. A feedback form will be made available on this web
site at that time.
