Statewide Advisory Committee--Business Education

A committee representing teachers, businessmen and businesswomen, Education for Employment (EFE) directors, post-secondary educators in business, the Illinois State Board of Education, and staff from the Illinois Office of Educational Services met on May 11, 2006, to discuss the state of business education in the State of Illinois.
Members of this committee listened to research data gathered from the State of the Art paper in business and examined the need for business education in the State of Illinois. They unanimously agreed that business education is essential training for secondary students and that a revitalized curriculum in business education is needed.
Through round-table discussions and reporting out to the group as a whole, many areas were identified where the curriculum needs to be revitalized. Infusing rigor, relevance, and relationship, they recommended the highly successful Agricultural Education curriculum model for this project to pursue.
