History of Curriculum Revitalization Initiative (CRI) for Business, Marketing, and Management
In May of 2006 individuals from across Illinois met in Springfield for a Statewide Advisory Committee meeting. Attendees consisted of personnel representing business and industry, secondary business educators, post-secondary business educators, Education for Employment system directors, a representative from the Illinois State Board of Education, and staff from the Illinois Office of Educational Services. The purpose was to gather information regarding the effectiveness of business and information technology education when applied to the workforce and post-secondary education. The results of this meeting are available for download.
Using the input from the Statewide Advisory Committee for Business Education, a curriculum framework was developed and subsequent lessons identified as critical need for infusion at the orientation-level. Based upon the highly successful Agricultural Education model, business teachers from around the state began writing lessons from those identified during the summer of 2006.

Resources are available via ISBE web site and the IOES library has cataloged curriculum materials available.

Many educators and administrators from around the State of Illinois are unaware of the Curriculum Revitalization Initiative curriculum project in the four CTE areas of Business, Family & Consumer Sciences, Health Science Technology, and Technology & Engineering Education. In an attempt to inform all educators and administrators across the state from high school through university about this curriculum initiative, presentations are being made to groups at their request.
Below is a summary of presentations in which Diane Mahinda, Business CRI Facilitator from the Illinois Office of Educational Services, and/or Carol Brooks, Principal Consultant for Business, Marketing, and Management from the Illinois State Board of Education have made to date.

If your school or organization would like to have someone present the CRI project to your group, please contact Diane Mahinda at dmahinda@ioes.org to arrange a time.
