Virtual Reality Makes Pediatric Heart Surgery a Reality

1/14/2016
Earlier this week, I tweeted out a story entitled, "Inoperable twin baby saved by innovative heart surgery using virtual reality.”  A baby was born this past August with only one lung and half a heart with many defects.  A doctor at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami used a low-cost virtual reality device, Google Cardboard, and a smartphone to "bring to life” the parts of the heart he would be operating on.  Check out this story by clicking the link above (in the story title) and share your thoughts.  Also, share any other stories you have read or seen on how virtual reality can be used to enhance medicine.
