ICSPS Presents:
Ask the Expert professional development series:
CTE Learners with intellectual disabilities by Kathleen Oertle, University of Illinois
Illinois Center for Specialized Professional Support will be offering a pre-session to the Connections Conference at Pheasant Run, St. Charles, IL Broadway Ball Room (lunch will be provided) on March 4, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This workshop will focus on strategies and resources for addressing students with Intellectual Disabilities in Career & Technical Education. Participants will leave with an understanding of the types of support needed by students with intellectual disabilities in career and technical education courses as well as an action plan for assisting these students in accessing, engaging in and completing CTE courses.
Two other workshops will be availble later this year in Effingham, IL and Edwards, IL. REGISTER NOW FOR ANY OF THE ASK THE EXPERT SERIES WORKSHOPS.

The Curriculum Revitalization Initiative is delivering a CRI Update and PBL presentation at The 2008 Connections Conference at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois on March 6, 2008. The presentation will combine information on the CRI Project and a new offering: CRI and Problem-Based Learning. The one hour presentation will provide an overview of the CRI Curriculum Lesson Library and illustrate how participants may use Problem-Based Learning to teach multiple CRI lessons with one PBL problem. The presenters, Diane Mahinda, Facilitator for Business Marketing and Computer Education and Linda Cozzolino, Facilitator for Health Science Technology, will tailor the presentation to include helpful suggestions for all CTE areas. The presentation will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. |

Technology Education Roundtable Presented by TEAI
Who: All technology teachers in grades 6-12 regardless of whether you teach Shop, Industrial Arts, Applied Arts & Sciences, Technology Education, or Engineering & Technology Education
What: Roundtable meeting, discussion, and dinner regarding our profession as technology educators, current trends and best practice. Including a tour of the Willowbrook High School Industry & Technology Department.
When: Thursday March 13 from 3-7pm with dinner served at 5:30
Where: Willowbrook High School Student Cafeteria
Why: Stay abreast of current trends and share what works well in your school. Catch up with old friends, or make new ones. Share your favorite problem solving activities or lessons from any of your classes in the curriculum exchange.
How: RSVP via; email, voicemail or any other means of communication to Matt Feuerborn by 2/28/08 (information provided below) that you are coming. A charge of $7 will be used to offset the cost of the meal.
