  • Build a course outline and review a FCS lesson.

ILLINOIS CAREER AND TECHNICAL ADMINISTORS
Sponsor a collaborative workshop

Integration and CTE Curriculum
On
Wednesday February 6, 2008
Capital Area Career Center, Springfield, Illinois
With Professional Organization Meetings held on February 5, 2008

On February 5, 2008 the Area Vocational Directors Council will meet, followed by a meeting of the System Directors Leadership Council and the ICTA Board. These meetings should conclude by 4:30 p.m. followed by a networking dinner at Mariah’s scheduled for 5:30 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to talk informally with your peers.

On February 6, 2008, ICTA is sponsoring a full day workshop, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending by 2:30 p.m. The workshop will include two presentations on strategies to integrate academics into CTE curriculum.
 
Mark Williams, along with Kathy Barnheart, will provide an update from ISBE with information about new and emerging opportunities for CTE.
 
The next presentation, by Jack Martin, focuses on the math skills students need to score well on apprenticeship tests. Jack will guide the participants through the various questions and problems students will encounter when applying for an apprenticeship program.
 
Next, Barbara Halsey, from ACT will present on Work Keys. Barbara will discuss the data that is available and how it can be used for improvement strategies.
 
Please join us for both days of networking and professional development.
Lodging is available at the Baymont Inn & Suites at the Toronto Road exit. Registration is available for one day or both days.
