Curriculum Revitalization Initiative (CRI) Workshop for CTE Teachers
November 4, 2008, 11:00 am-2:50 pm Lemont High School, Lemont, IL
Linda Walker, FCS Facilitator for the CRI project, will be presenting a hands-on workshop for all CTE teachers. Information will be given on all of the new resources available at www.ilcte.org, as well as how to access the lessons and how to incorporate these lessons into course outlines.

Elite Conference 2008
Who: Juniors and Seniors in your agriculture classes interested in teaching agriculture or that you think would be great agriculture teachers - this conference can help convince them of that. We will accept sophomores on a waiting list, we are accepting the first 50 students. If you are planning on sending more than one student, please rank them in order of you’re your first preference to attend, priority will be given to the first preference of each school.
What: A conference designed just for them to help plan their future in agricultural education! The Elite Conference agenda will include the following activities and presentations:
~ DRAFT AGENDA ~
- Welcome & Mixer
- Addressing the need for Agriculture Teachers Activity
- Presentation from Collegiate FFA, PAS and post secondary opportunities for young people to stay connected to Ag Ed.
- University Representative Time – mixer and presentations from ISU, SIUC, UIUC, WIU.
- Presentation from Illinois Ag In the Classroom will present and share activities with the students.
- “Teaching” time, students will break into groups to do lab and classroom activities and then come back to the whole group to share what they have learned.
- Teacher Panel – showing that agriculture teachers come in many styles, genders, personalities and ages.
- Lunch Provided
- We will have snacks and break time included! GREAT door prizes will be awarded – MUST be present to win!
When: November 5th – Keep an eye on the list serve and be expecting a notice from your Program Advisor. Where: Two Locations: Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield and Joliet Junior College in Joliet Why: Illinois Agriculture Education Needs Teachers! Conference Requirements:
- A great enthusiasm for agricultural education!
- Official FFA Dress or the equivalent attire
- Do not have to be an FFA member to attend

Illinois Business Education Association Annual Conference Keller Convention Center Effingham, IL November 12 – 14, 2008
The theme of the 46th annual IBEA Fall Conference is Embrace Change at IBEA. The conference will be in a new location this year. The conference will be held at the Keller Convention Center in Effingham, Illinois on November 12-14, 2008. You will not want to miss this opportunity to learn, network, and refresh. There will be over 70 professional development sessions for everyone to choose from in order to help you energize your classes. All of the sessions will reflect upon current technology and software applications, as well as successful teaching methods, tips, and tricks. Members will have the opportunity to earn CPDU’s or graduate credit by attending presentations and computer hands-on sessions. We also use this conference to celebrate, praise, and honor those who have dedicated their lives to educating others as we look forward to and prepare for the development and advancement of our next generation.

Dear Teachers and Administrators:
Keyboarding is being taught at various levels in schools. Some teachers have not had the benefits of methods classes for keyboarding. Therefore, The Illinois Business Education Association (IBEA) is sponsoring a 4-hour methods workshop with CPDUs available to any teacher at a cost of $50 each.
The workshop will be held on November 12, 2008, from noon - 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Effingham, Illinois. The workshop information can be downloaded at http://www.ibea.org/. |

Using Problem-Based Learning to Teach a Business Lesson
2008 IBEA Fall Conference Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. in Conv Ctr 2 Keller Convention Center Effingham, IL
Linda Cozzolino, Health Science Technology Facilitator, will be hosting a session on using Problem-Based Learning to teach business is an effective way to cover the curriculum and engage students in real life problems. This presentation, from the Curriculum Revitalization Initiative (CRI), will show participants how to do the following: access on-line business lessons, create problem-based learning modules, cover large units of curriculum and address Illinois Learning Standards, Education Technology Standards, Work Place Skills, and Occupational Skills Standards. |
