Nominations for the 2010 ILGISA Board of Directors are now being taken!  Submissions for consideration are due by August 21, 2009.

We are seeking candidates for four Directors and a President-Elect.

According to our By-Laws, Directors shall hold office for two years. The President-Elect and any Directors full-time or principal work may not involve ownership, operation, or employment by an organization which manufactures, distributes, or sells equipment, software, data, or services for profit to users of geographic information systems.  The President-Elect and any Directors may accept fees for making presentations, writing articles, teaching classes, or providing consulting advice on a part-time or occasional basis, provided such services are not provided to ILGISA itself.  The President-Elect and any Directors engaged in such part-time activities may not advertise themselves or their services in any manner in ILGISA publications, or by giving presentations or displaying posters at ILGISA events which reflect their part-time work. A Director must be a resident of the State of Illinois, or have principal employment in the field of GIS in an organization located in the state of Illinois if they live in an adjoining state.  Nominees for President-Elect should have had experience on the ILGISA Board.

Members of the Board of Directors are charged with setting the direction and managing the affairs of the organization.  Historically, the Board has met monthly either in person at conferences or through conference telephone calls.  Board members are expected to participate in all Board meetings and play an active role in the management of the affairs of the organization.  ILGISA provides no financial compensation, so Board Members must provide support personally or through their employer.  Members of the Board should have had an active involvement in ILGISA through participation in meetings and committee work.

Individuals may nominate themselves or someone else for one of these positions.  The Nominating Committee will select from those names received to propose a slate of candidates.  The endorsed candidates’ names and picture will be placed on the ballot, which will be emailed to the membership so that everyone will have the ballot at least 30 days before our Annual Meeting on October 6, 2009.

Please send names and addresses of potential candidates by August 21, 2009 by email or mail to:
Tracy Rogers, Executive Director, ILGISA
