The Illinois State Board of Education's Career Development and Preparation Division, in conjunction with its Curriculum Revitalization project, is holding a meeting in which to conduct a focus group interview to determine the skills and knowledge required in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences Education on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the YWCA, 1201 N. Hershey Road, Bloomington, IL.

The goal is to describe the academic areas of challenge where secondary students, post-secondary students, and pre-employment people need improvement prior to entering their next stage of either education and/or employment. This information will be used in developing a curriculum in Family and Consumer Sciences Education addressing those challenges which will align with the Illinois Learning Standards as well as be applied in career training.
